Important Reminder:
Please remember that any last minute transportation changes need to be communicated first to our front office staff. They will then communicate these changes to the homeroom teacher and students.

PAWS was excited to receive a Georgia Fossil Replica Set in the mail today! This display was made possible through a grant funded by the Paleontology Association of Georgia and the Toomey Foundation.  PAWS has these on display in the media center for our students to observe during their library time.

PAWS & Applause!

At City Park, we believe in growing not just smart students, but kind and caring citizens. That’s why we celebrate PAWSitive Panthers, our Character Trait of the Month program, as part of our PAWS and Applause initiative! Each month, we focus on an important character trait—such as respect, responsibility, kindness, or perseverance—and learn what it means to practice that trait at school, at home, and in our community.

Teachers will be on the lookout for students who are shining examples of the month’s trait. At the end of the month, those students will be recognized as our PAWSitive Panthers and celebrated for the positive impact they make every day. There will also be quarterly celebrations to recognize the excellence PAWS expects.

Together, we can show that Panther pride is about more than academics—it’s about the pawsitive choices we make!

Congratulations!
We are proud to announce that Allison Chlebisch and Hannah Talley have been named finalists for the Tom Jones Educator of the Year Award. This prestigious honor is presented annually to an educator in Dalton Public Schools who has made significant contributions to the education of children in Dalton and who exemplifies excellence in teaching.

The award, established in 1987, is named in memory of Tom Jones, a prominent Dalton businessman, co-founder of J&J Industries, and longtime member and chairman of the Dalton Board of Education. A native of Dalton and a proud product of Dalton Public Schools, Jones is remembered for his unwavering support of our community and schools.

We congratulate Mrs. Chlebisch and Mrs. Talley on this outstanding recognition and thank them for their dedication to our students and school community! The winner of the award will be announced on August 29 during half-time of the Dalton High School football game.

✨✏️ Students in Mrs. Ash and Mrs. Chavaria’s class started the year strong in writing! They read, analyzed, and annotated Savvas mentor texts while learning how to create gist statements to use as topic sentences. To wrap up their pre-writing week, each class came together to collaborate by organizing their ideas in a graphic organizer and then drafting their very own class personal narrative. 📚👏

Good afternoon families,

This afternoon, during dismissal, smoke from food in a microwave prompted a safety check at City Park School. The Dalton Fire Department responded quickly, confirmed there was no danger, and all students and staff remained safe throughout the incident.

We are grateful for the swift response of our local fire department and remain committed to maintaining a safe environment and keeping our families informed. All afterschool activities and classes for the remainder of the week will continue as scheduled.

PAWS in his happy place! The first days of school have passed, a PAWSitive school culture is being created, devices have been distributed, specials classes have begun, great teaching and learning are happening, new relationships are being formed (shout out to Mr. Amado for the way he is already bonding with our patrons), and students are making their way to our library to explore their own interests through independent reading. It's a great day to be at the 405!

🌟 Kindness in Action 🌟

This week, one of our incredible second graders reminded us all of the power of compassion. With a heart full of love and creativity, he handmade and donated crosses to be delivered to residents at our local nursing home — spreading smiles and joy with each thoughtful gift.

As Aesop once wrote in The Lion and the Mouse, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”

We are so proud of this young student for making a difference and showing us that even the smallest hands can do big things.

Books Are on the Block!

Thanks to the generosity of Books for Change, every Kindergarten student at our school received a brand-new book today to kick off the school year!

The hope of Books for Change was to place these books in the hands of our students during the first few weeks of school — sending a powerful message from day one: You are a reader!!

What a meaningful way to begin their reading journey! Let's inspire a lifelong love of books, one page at a time!

🌟 The Night Before School Starts 🌟 As we get ready to open our doors for a brand new school year, we’re holding onto this beautiful reminder from Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White: “You have been my friend. That in itself is a tremendous thing.” Tomorrow brings a fresh start, new teachers, and classmates who may soon become lifelong friends. As you walk through the halls, remember that a smile, a kind word, or a simple “Hi, want to play?” can make someone’s day. Let’s make this year one where every student feels seen, included, and cared for. Show kindness, lend a hand, and be the reason someone loves their first day. 🐾❤️ We can't wait to see all the tremendous things you'll do! Here's to Endless PAWSibilities and a great first day tomorrow!
