Big news! All 10 Dalton Public Schools have been awarded the 2024-2025 Ready Georgia Seal of Preparedness! This recognition from GaDOE & GEMA/HS highlights our district’s dedication to school safety through extensive emergency planning and risk mitigation. Dalton Public Schools Celebrates Black History Month: Spotlight on Brandi Moore, Associate Superintendent of Academics In honor of Black History Month, Dalton Public Schools is celebrating the stories of dedicated staff members who have made a lasting impact in education and the community. One such leader is Brandi Moore, Associate Superintendent of Academics, whose journey from a Dalton Public Schools student to a district leader reflects a deep commitment to education and service. "I am proud to call Dalton my hometown," Moore shares. "My upbringing was filled with love, encouragement, and high expectations for education." With the guidance of her parents and older brother, she developed a strong work ethic and a passion for learning that led her to pursue a career in education. After graduating from Dalton High School in 1997, Moore earned her degree from Berry College and later obtained advanced degrees in Educational Administration. For 24 years, she has dedicated her career to supporting students and educators, inspired by the example set by her parents. Moore’s father made history as the first Black captain of the Dalton High School basketball team and a state-level competitor in golf, breaking barriers despite facing discrimination. Her mother rose through the banking industry, demonstrating perseverance and leadership. "She taught me the power of setting goals, working hard, and believing in oneself," Moore says. Their journeys have shaped her own approach to leadership and education. Reflecting on Black History Month, Moore sees it as both a celebration and a call to action. "It is a reminder of the sacrifices my ancestors made, the barriers they broke, and the dreams they pursued despite systemic challenges," she explains. "Beyond celebration, Black History Month challenges us to educate ourselves and others, to amplify Black voices. It is an ongoing story, one that I am honored to be a part of as an educator, author, and leader in my community."

Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) programs at Dalton Public Schools are shaping the future by preparing students for success in college, careers, and beyond. This year’s data highlights the incredible impact of CTAE: 🔹 191 high school students are earning Work-Based Learning credits while gaining hands-on experience in their chosen career pathways. 🔹 138 local employers are partnering with our students to provide real-world job opportunities. 🔹 $1,364,779 in wages were earned by Work-Based Learning students, helping them gain financial independence while they learn. 🔹 96.7% of CTAE concentrators in the class of 2023 graduated on time. 🔹 96.6% of CTAE concentrators entered college, the workforce, or the military within six months of graduation. Christopher Smith, a 7th Grade ELA and Math Teacher at Hammond Creek Middle School and Boys Basketball Coach, reflects deeply on the significance of Black History Month. "As an African American man, my educational journey has taught me to walk the path of 'UJIMA.'
