Mrs. Starling's third grade Panthers put their writing skills to the test with a little hands-on fall fun! 🍂
After learning how to write an informational piece explaining the steps for carving a pumpkin, these young authors got to put their words into ACTION by carving their very own pumpkins! 🎃
What a fun way to bring writing to life! From organizing their ideas and explaining a process step by step to seeing the finished products, our Panthers discovered that writing has a purpose beyond the classroom! 📝✨
📸 Check out these photos of our third graders turning their pumpkin plans into pumpkin masterpieces!

Rachel took our Panthers on an unforgettable journey through Dalton's history, sharing the inspiring story of Catherine Evans Whitener, whose creativity, determination, and innovative spirit helped lay the foundation for Dalton's carpet industry.
But this visit was about so much more than a book! Rachel reminded our students of the importance of dreaming big, following their passions, believing in themselves, and honoring those who came before us.
One of the most powerful moments came when Rachel encouraged our students to say Catherine Evans Whitener's name aloud, reminding them that her story and legacy deserve to be remembered. What a beautiful lesson in the power of one person to make a lasting difference!
We cannot thank Rachel enough for the time, energy, heart, and enthusiasm she poured into making this experience so special for our students. She truly went above and beyond, and her passion for literacy, education, history, and our community is contagious!
Our Panthers walked away with more than a story about Dalton's past. They walked away inspired to imagine the difference THEY might make in our community's future!
Catherine Evans Whitener helped shape Dalton's history. Rachel Smalley is helping ensure her story is never forgotten.
Thank you, Rachel, for sharing your story, your passion, and your heart with the 405! You are a true example of our Endless PAWSibilities!
Come out and cheer on City Park as our teams take the field today, Thursday, October 29!

Who: Grades 3–5
When: October 28
Where: City Park Elementary
Every student in grades 3–5 will hear the author speak and get their very own copy of the book to take home!

The first week of our Fall Into Amira Reading Challenge is in the books, and our City Park Panthers are already planting the seeds of reading success! 🌱🐾
During our first round, 6 classrooms earned their very first pumpkin by having at least 80% of their students complete 20 or more minutes of high-quality reading practice with Amira! 🎉
🎃 Congratulations to our Week 1 Pumpkin Patch Growers!
🍂 Kindergarten: Mrs. Roper & Mrs. Velasquez
🍂 1st Grade: Mrs. Rhodes & Mrs. Smith
🍂 2nd Grade: Mrs. Brock
🍂 3rd Grade: Mrs. Lawson

Our pumpkin patches are just getting started, and we can't wait to see how much they grow over the next few weeks! Keep reading, Panthers! 📖🎃
🐾 At City Park, we make GREAT GAINS—one pumpkin at a time!

🐾 Calling All Veterans & Active-Duty Service Members! ❤️🤍💙
City Park Elementary is making plans for a very special Veterans Day Assembly, and we would be honored to have the veterans and active-duty service members in our City Park families and community join us!
❤️ Wednesday, November 11
⏰ 9:30 a.m.
📍 Harmon Practice Field — across from the National Guard Armory
This year, our Panthers will leave the 405 and gather together outdoors for a special community celebration of the men and women who have served—and continue to serve—our country. Our program will include the Pledge of Allegiance, our City Park Glee Club, patriotic music, a whole-school singalong, and a special recognition of our veterans.
Veterans and active-duty service members, please make plans to join us! We want our students to see that those who serve our country aren't just people they read about in books—they are members of their own families, school, and community.
🪑 Guests, please bring a lawn chair for seating.
Please help us spread the word by sharing this post with a veteran or active-duty service member who might like to join our Panthers for this special morning.
🐾 Thank you for your service. We can't wait to honor you! ❤️🤍💙
